|ADOPTING FROM HALFWAY HOME
Halfway Home is not a shelter so there is so centralised location for you to visit. To adopt an animal the first step is to submit an expression of interest to adopt form.
At Halfway Home Animal Rescue we have an adoption process aimed at ensuring you and your new dog or cat are a great match and will have a great long lasting relationship.
We can then make an assessment to see if it is a good 'match'. It's not about good or bad - it's about the right fit for the cat or dog. We don't conduct trial periods - we have an adoption process and it involves commitment from all parties.
We usually hold animal applications open for at least two weeks to ensure there is a good chance for finding the best fit, rather than a quick sale.
If there is potential for a good match we will contact you and arrange a time to meet. This will include a fence inspection to ensure safety and an introduction to your animals if you have them. We may have two or three potential homes to visit before making a decision and will keep you informed along the way.
We will endeavour to respond to you as soon as possible, but we are volunteers and sometimes can get busy. If you don't hear back from us within two weeks it may not have been a great match so please keep looking for your new family member.
When we find the ideal home we will bring the animal to you (or you can collect). There will be an adoption agreement and we will provide you with all the necessary paperwork and advice to set you up for success.
We go to these lengths because we are dealing with a life - not a transaction. It's not in our animals' interests to be adopted and returned when things don't work out. We reserve the right not to provide reasons for not proceeding with any expression if interest or application.
Adoption forms in Word format are available here Dogs or Cats or you can apply or enquire online by clicking the buttons on each animals profile page.
